The Rideau Canal Crossing Progress Update is LIVE!
Thank you for your ongoing participation in the City of Ottawa’s Rideau Canal Crossing Environmental Assessment study. This study was initiated in March 2011 to identify a recommended plan for improving multi-use (pedestrian/cycling) linkages over the Rideau Canal between the Pretoria and Bank Street Bridges.
We’d like to share the progress we’ve made since the second Public Open House last November. Please review the report by clicking here Progress Update and Design Consultation and let us know what you think by May 30, 2012.
For further details and to respond to a survey please visit: http://www.ottawa.ca/en/city_hall/planningprojectsreports/public_consult/rideau_canal_bridge/progress/index.htm
Thank you! Your involvement is essential to the planning and design process.
Hi,
I am often a pedestrian living just south of Fifth Avenue and West of Bank Street, and enjoy being able to shorten my route to Ottawa East in the winter by crossing the canal. The same route takes me twice as long at other times (when the ice is not strong enough to support me, or when the canal is not frozen) by having to use either the bridge on Bank and canal or Pretoria bridge.
I find that the Glebe and Ottawa East have a lot of foot traffic and we would all benefit from the new proposed bridge.
